Beauty// My Christmas Party Make Up

All the Glitters and Red Lipstick

Are you also planning which little dress and what sort of make up look you are going to wear for the Christmas parties? I am! (It may just be another excuse of doing more shopping haha!)  I went to Superdrug the other day and picked up some really festive make up products and thought they would be great for the Christmas party season! So here we go!

The look I am going for this year is the Bold and Matte Red Lips. However, I am not going to keep my eyes make up simple. It is Christmas after all. I use a grey eyeshadow pencil as a primer for the first layer, and on top I use the Glitter eye liner to draw not just a line but all over my eye lid. Sparkles! (For this eye make up, I didn't use any brushes, just with my fingers) I think this will suit all types of outfits, dress, fur, or leather pants, anything!

Here are the products I used for this look and swatches:

Collection Work the Colour Eyeshadow Pencil (Gunmetal Glitz) and Glam Crystals Dazzeling Gel Eyeliner (Hustle)

I quite like this grey colour eyeshadow pencil. I love the colour. It is so easy to use and I find it very long lasting. The Glam crystals eye liner is so gorgeous. I especially love this colour because it is not just silvery.. it also has blue, gold, and all different kind of sparkles in it. So pretty! Like a disco ball!

Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream (Rioja Red)

Red is definitely my choice of Party lips! You can't go wrong with a classic red lip. Recently I fell in love with matte lipsticks. The sleek matte me is such a beautiful lip product. (MAC Ruby Woo is another favourite of mine!) Sleek matte me is so matte and seems to really stay put! I can't wait for the party to come! I really want to try it!

Hope you like my Christmas party make up look. What look are you going for this Christmas? Leave me a comment below or tweet me @wentalkstoshoes

Have a Happy Christmas!

Brushless Airbrushed Foundation: Max Factor, Chanel, and L'Oreal

These are three of my favourite foundations at the moment. I am loving these because they all give a very natural, almost like no make-up finish, which I love!! If you are also loving a light coverage and no fuss, no mistake foundation, these are definitely for you!

First of all, I apply all of these three foundations with fingers. I am sure you can use brushes, but I found it is easier with fingers and saves time.

Second, they are all light (to medium) coverage foundations. So it means it only evens out the skin tone but doesn't cover up the flaws. If you want to cover some pigmentation or imperfection, must go back to use the concealer. I, however, fall in love with the light coverage foundation. I find that letting a little bit of imperfection shine through, it actually makes the skin look more beautiful. I guess it is because the skin looks more real and natural, and it is more complimentary to your make-up.

Now, let's see the swatches and how it individually performs on my skin! Hope you will find it helpful!

1. Max Factor Whipped Cream Foundation 45 Warm Almond

My dear friend Veronique recommended me to try this, and I am really loving it. This foundation has a very unique texture. It looks like whipped cream in the pot and once it goes on to the skin, it turns into powder. So smooth and smells like Almond (Don't know if all smell like almond, or just the one I am using because it is called Warm Almond).

It gives a semi-matte finish. As you can see, the shade is probably a little too pale for me, bu it is the best shade I could find from this range that suits me. It only has a handful of shades to choose from (which is the same issue for the other two foundations), but I can work with it. If it is really too pale I will apply bronzer to warm it up!

2. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua 20 Beige

This is my all time favourite foundation! It is easy to blend. Water base, and needs a good shake before applying. It gives such a great natural looking finish with a hint of glow! It gives a dewy finish without unnecessary shine. Fabulous!

Although it only has a few shades, but the colour no. 20 looks great on me. The coverage is lighter, compared to the other two, but I find this is the most long lasting one.

I highly recommend this foundation!!

3. L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau de Teint Warm Ivory

This foundation is just like water (so shake before applying), and when it goes on to the skin it gives sort of a powder finish. It is not too matte, quite dewy, very easy to blend. I find that you can build on the coverage (to medium) by adding more and it stays light, won't turn into cakey. Very lovely!

But it does seem to oxidise a little after a few hours of wearing (at least for my oily to dry combination skin). So be mindful and remember to bring a compact with you to touch up!

My favourite of all is...

Chanel Vitalumere Aqua! I love all of them but if I have to choose one, I would go for Chanel because I love this dewy but not too shining finish and the shade is great for my skin!

How about you? Have you tried these foundation already? What is your favourite one at the moment? Please tweet me @wentalkstoshoes I am always in the search of the best foundation!

All About the Concealers! Concealer, BB Eye Cream, and Corrector

A good concealer can help us to achieve a flawless skin look that we all to die for! But it is never easy to find the right one. This task has been my holy grail and as you can see I have been through so many similar products. I will like to share with you some of my thoughts and how I get on with the job of conceal! Last but not least, My star product: the corrector I recently discovered, and ever since I cannot live without it!

What is your favourite concealer? and how do you cover that annoying under eye bags? Please leave me a comment or tweet me @wentaslktoshoes I will love to hear what you think!

Under Eye Concealers

★★★★

Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer

I have this concealer for ages, but recently I fell in love with it again! It has a great coverage, not too drying, not too dewy, just perfect for my skin. I use it mainly for under the eyes but I also use it sometimes around the face. Highly recommend it!

★★

Revlon Colorstay Concealer

This is also a very good concealer. It has a Great coverage with a creamy texture. Be careful not to apply too much because it may crease after a while (Certainly it is the case for me). Just a little few dots at where you need it. I love to use it for around the face as well. It is fantastic for covering the blemish.

★★☆☆☆

Collection Illuminating Touch

I feel this product is Great for a night out. The light will bounce back and it gives a great highlighting effect! However, it is a bit too dry for me. Have to be honest, I am not a big fan for this product. I wouldn't wear it during the day. Having said that, if you have oily skin this may be great for you, because once it is on, it sets! No need for reapplying!

BB Eye Creams and Treatment

Garnier BB Eye Cream Roll on & Dior Hydra Life BB Eye Cream

I Love BB eye Creams! They instantly brighten your eyes. It seems to me that they don't really have sparkles or light refection in them. So they look so natural. Great for day time (and great for boys!!), not to mention they also contain lots of skincare ingredients!

The colour of Garnier works better for me than Dior's; however, Dior's feels much more hydrating on the skin. I guess each one of their own. I use both quite regularly during the day.
Generally speaking, BB eye creams do not have strong conceal power. So if you need more coverage, do what I do. I add a little bit of light reflecting concealer on top, especially if it is a night out!

Soap & Glory Trick And Treatment

This is such a great discovery in my trail of searching for the right concealers. The texture of this product is so light and moisturising. It is very easy to blend, it won't crease on me. It has so many light-reflecting particles, it is literally shinning (I understand it may not be everyone's cuppa tea, but you have to try it. Maybe it can be used as highlighter as well). It has quite a strong yellow-tone which is supposed to correct the under eye blue-purple-ish dark circle. I don't know if it fits everyone's skin tone, but it works for me. My dark circles are largely covered. And the best of all, it contains skincare ingredient that would reduce the dark circles for long run! Loving it!

Corrector

Bobbi Brown Corrector

This is the stars in my eyes! I LOVE this product so much. I think anyone who has dark eye circle problems should go and try it immediately!!! It is magic! It will counteract the blue-ish or purple-ish colour under your eyes for you. Use the corrector first, then apply your regular concealer on top! (I sometimes just use the corrector and the coverage is already good enough!)

Alternatively you can also try Armani Master Corrector. A friend of mine Bagel is using it and loving this corrector. Actually it was her who suggested me to try the corrector. Armani's one is more liquidy and very hydrating! But it only has two shades. Bobbi Brown's corrector is more a cream texture. Perhaps it is less hydrating but I never have a problem with it. (I always use eye cream underneath). Bobbi Brown has so many different shades. You will definitely find one that suits your skin tone! Highly recommend it!

Hope you find this blog helpful! These are just my thoughts and opinions. If you using the products I mentioned, please do leave me a comment (or tweet me) to let me know how you feel about them!

Love Eat Live: One Fine Day in London

If you follow me on twitter, you probably have already known that I recently went down to London town and had a pretty eventful day! Oh well, I won't go into detail here. All I can say to you is.. despite all the unpleasant hiccups, it was still a lovely and very fine day for me. And I will love to share some photos of my favourite moments of the day with you!

First of, I met up with my friend David and went for a lovely late lunch at his local cafe Fat Cat. We both love this place and try to go there as often as we could. I had a pork belly sandwich with chips and he had his usual Egg Benedict. They were both so yummy. It was probably not a very good idea to have a bite to eat so late since I was going to have dinner with some other friends in a couple of hours. But who could say no to pork belly (my favourite belly in the world) and chips seasoned with all sorts of fresh herbs! YUM!

After saying goodbye to David, I rushed back into town and met up with my friends Mark and Sonja (whose photos were in my double denim challenge) for dinner. We went to Giraffe in Spitalfields. We didn't really have a plan where to go and just randomly picked one that was close to us. And we all had such a good time. The food was very nice, the waiters were so friendly, the place was so cool (love the logo Love Eat Live) and best of all, my Apple & Elderflower Martini was divine!

At the dinner, Sonja showed me some of her selfies that she took the day before inside a fitting room while doing some shopping. She was so kind to say that it was because of my blog, she started to take selfies, too. Aw! How Sweet! I am truly flattered!!

What a wonderful day! Good Food, Good Friends, & a Very Good Day!

What's in my make-up bag? #01 Sleep over at the boyfriend's & No Make-up Make up tips

Girls, before we get a drawer at the boyfriend's place, I believe we all have been through the stage of carrying a massive staying overnight make-up bag, am I right?! After two years of relationship, I have finally got my drawer!! Hallelujah! But before that I have always had a make-up bag packed and ready for a night at the boyfriend's. I don't want to bring the whole set of skincares and make-ups with me but at the same time, I want to look nice for my boyfriend. Tricky, isn't it! Here are some products and little secrets I will like to share with you!

First and foremost, Hair: my Batisete Dry Shampoo! Don't think your man would have a hairdryer at home, so don't bother to wash your hair. Dry shampoo really comes handy and makes the hair smell refreshing!

Make-up remover: It has to be really quick and easy. I love to use the micellar water because it can take off eye and face make-up in one go! The one I am using right now is B. Pure Micellar water. (Don't forget to bring some cotton pads!)

Moisturizer: I am using Olay Anti-Wrinkle 2-in-1 Day Cream + Serum. I love this because it is 2-in-1 and saves me a lot of space!
. You

For the next morning...

if I want to look nice but don't want to look like I have made a lot of effort, I will put on some really minimal make-up to brighten my complexion (like that in the photo above). And here are some of my secret weapons to achieve this very natural look with a hint of blush!

1. Chanel Les Beiges: Oh I really love this product. It is so seamless, it doesn't give much coverage but gives a very healthy glow! It looks so natural and perfect for the no-make-up make-up! I apply this powder with the half-moon shape brush (that comes with product) and gently brush through all over my face.

2. Bourjois Blush Exclusif: This is such a magical blusher! It adjusts to a bespoke pink according to your skin tone! It looks very natural, but be careful, it is a buildable cream-to-powder blusher and I find it takes a little time to 'react' with your skin, so don't be too heavy handed. Otherwise it would turn out to be rather pink!

3. Garnier BB eye-cream roll on: I have very dark under eye circles and this BB eye-cream brightens my eye areas instantly without looking too made-up! Really loving this right now!

4. Burt's Bee Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate oil: I love the pomegranate oil's smell. Not too sweet not to girly, and it gives the lips an even-tone! Very kissable!

Hope you find this helpful and fun to read. I will love to know what you bring to the boyfriend's place! And if you like my post, or have any questions, please leave me a comment below or on my Facebook page or tweet me @wentalkstoshoes

Wish-List for House of FashionWorked

Couple weeks ago FashionWorked invited me to be the guest blogger and contribute a blog post in one of his fabulous Shopping-list series. He has given me weeks to pick and choose five items, but I finished it literally in minutes. I don't think any one can compete with me in the world of On-line window shopping! I do it like a pro and making wish-lists all the time!

Here is a the link to his Blog, Please check it out and please follow him on twitter as well!

Down below are the five items I chose and some links. Have to admit, most of items I can only dream about. I can never be able to afford them.. but You never know!! Boxing day sale is just around the corner.

 1. & Other Stories Wool-blend Coat

I am a big fan of over-size coat, and I believe if you are going to invest in a nice coat it should be a colour that will never go out of style, hence, the beige, so classic!

I recently found one that is so similar to this one in my local vintage shop. I will pop in this weekend and hope it is my size!!

 2. Nasty Girl Strut Cutout Bootie

OH my my! Isn't this the sexiest heel you have ever seen! I am loving the transparent design! It is sexy and at the same time very cool and stylish!

I think it will look fantastic with a LBD or boyfriend jeans or tailored suits..
It will just go with everything!

3. Indeed lab Hydraluron

Confession: Once I have mailed FashionWorked my Wish-list, I went into Boots and got this serum!

I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and REALLY SERIOUSLY Loving it. I have been using it as a night time skincare product. As the package says it gives your moisture such a boost! Feels so hydrating throughout the night! I highly recommend it! I am going to try the eye cream from the same brand too! Fashion// Autumn and Leopards

Is there a better season other than autumn for leopard prints? I love the leopard prints and I usually choose something fairly simply to go with them, so the prints can really stand out!

What about you? Do you have any unspoken love affair with leopard prints too? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Make My Pores Disappear Please!

Pores Pores PORES! They are so annoying, aren't they?! This has been THE task for me to tackle for years. These couple of weeks I have been trying out some new products and tips. I really like them and I will love to share with you.

I deal with the pores issue in two ways: Skincare and Make-ups. I am not sure if the skincare really do the job to tighten the pores (I can only tell with my naked eyes); however, I find that after using these pore treatment skincare products, my pores do seem to be bearable. I no longer shout in front of mirror with horror at my pores every morning now!

Skincare

I thoroughly cleanse and gently exfoliate (once or twice a week) and I use pores refining products targeting the pores area. As for the rest of the face I use my usual skin care products because I have oilly to dry combination skin. If I use the pore refining products all over my face, it would be too drying for me.

1. Cleanse and Exfoliate: Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser
2. Toner: Botanics Cleansig Toner All Bright
3. Treatment: La Roche-Posay Effaclar K

Make-up

Make-up can really work as wonder when you know how.
I have some tips of how to make the pores disappear with make-up that you must try! Very simple tricks and will save you loads of time! So here we go!

To make the pores disappear is easy. Instead of using your fingers or flat foundation brush , use a round/buffing brush to apply the foundation! And when applying foundation, don't go stripes or up and down motions. Go circling motion around the pores. This will really help to cover the pores!

and of course a little primer and good quality setting powders come really handy too if you want to keep the flawless look!

4. Primer: The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It
5. Round buffing brush: Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
6. Powder: Chanel Healthy Glow Les Beiges

I will show you the difference in the photo below. On the right hand side (of the photo) I am using the circling and buffing motion to apply the foundation, prepped with primer and set it with powder. On the left, I only apply the foundation using my fingers. For the purpose of showing you the difference, I zoom in and change the colour to black and white. (Gosh, why am I showing you all my pores!!!)

Hope you find it helpful! Please leave me a comment or tweet me @wentalkstoshoes to tell me what your secret is to a flawless skin!

Fashion// In an arcade...

It has been ages since I went to an arcade game hall. I remembered when I was a teenager I spent so many weekends hanging around with friends in a place like this.

I choose an arcade hall to have my photos taken, because it always gives me a sense of being naughty.. a little dangerous, risky, lots of fun, and lots of chasing (boys and girls, relationship kind of chasing. Not actual running around!) I hope you like this series of photos and please leave me some comments below or tweet me @wentalkstoshoes and tell me what you think!
